Subject: UNEQUAL PROTECTION: The Rise of Corporate Dominance and the Theft of Human Rights

Here's Thom's book's basic premise:
There is a single power that corporations wield that has allowed them to destroy our environment without consequences to them, to seize control of our electoral process, to take our commons and use them to their own ends (like the nation's airwaves), and to exercise a level of control over the lives of average Americans that would have led the Founders of this nation to revolt (and did -- as you'll find as you read the book).
That single power is the doctrine -- first introduced in the USA in 1886 (see Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Corp., 118 U.S. 394 (1886)) and in the British Commonwealth countries in 1897 -- that corporations have the same human rights as natural persons. It's a concept that the Founders of America fought against, and that average people around the world are again taking on. It's the key to the kingdom, the one single card that -- when pulled out -- will cause the house of cards of international corporate control of humans and governments and economies to collapse.
Thom Hartmann's new book documents how and when corporations stole (yes, it wasn't given them -- they stole it) for themselves protections designed solely for human beings in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. With this power, they are now remaking the planet, sucking the marrow of wealth out of working people's lives, and seizing direct control over the behavior of the majority of politicians and governments worldwide.
And there is something we can do about it!
