   ....

     I was in the locker room and overheard two young doctors.  One was 
     saying that his wife wanted to move back to the midwest ASAP 
     because she feared "they" would come to her very house.  

     "You know I grew up in South Dakota," he told his colleague.  "My 
     father got up every morning and went to work on his ranch.  That's 
     what everybody did.  We never had problems like this."

     Doctor Number 2 nodded.

     I put in:  "At least not since they cleared out the Indians."

     They regarded me suspiciously and Doctor Number 2 asked, "Well, how 
     do you justify all this looting?"

     Instead of pointing out his lapse of logic I just said, "Sometimes 
     I'm watching an American Express Card commercial and I wonder why 
     it doesn't happen everyday."
